Meet the Norla team
We believe that our people are our second biggest asset (our most important asset is you) and so our team only includes carefully selected UK staff who genuinely share our values.
Chief Midwife And Founder
Mandy has been a Midwife for over fifteen years. During her career, she's helped bring hundreds of babies into the world - as well as having children of her own along the way!
"So now you’re pregnant... what next? Well, it’s all about your baby, of course. It’s funny isn't it, how that realisation can suddenly hit you: yes you really are going to be a mum, congratulations! It’s completely normal to be concerned about your pregnancy and want to do everything you can do to make it go as smoothly as possible. It’s easy for friends and relatives to tell you that things will be "just fine" or worse still, fill you with dread over stories of what happened to a friend of a friend of a friend. But that’s not really what you need. You want someone who has the time to listen and understand, who can guide you through your pregnancy, providing you with all the information you need to help you get the best out of these months.
I think that a midwife service should be just like having a really clever friend looking out for you. One that knows what you need to be prepared for before the baby comes, who knows what’s going on with your body when you ask “eugh! is that normal?”; someone who knows when to call the hospital or when to put your feet up… and above all, someone who’s always there when you need her.
If you've got all that already, well, then you're very lucky indeed.
In years gone by, that’s precisely what a midwife would do. But things have changed since then. While NHS midwives are bringing more babies safely into the world than ever, a lot of mums might say they've lost that “human touch”. Providing that sort of care takes time - the time to get to know you, the time to listen to your concerns and the time to provide gentle reassurance when needed.
And that’s just the pregnancy! The suddenness of becoming a mum can be quite overwhelming. One moment you're patting a bump and the next you’re holding a baby. I think for most mums that’s the biggest surprise. It’s at this moment that many of us realise that those last months reading books, browsing websites and asking friends wasn't quite the preparation they thought it was. Of course, your mum will offer to impart the wisdom of her years, but funny how it’s all starting to sound a little like her setting the new baby ground rules, isn't it? (yes, it happens to all of us!)
Sometimes you just need a straight answer. Why is she crying? Is this normal (again) and is it alright to do that whilst pregnant? You need that clever friend to talk to, not just with answers to those questions that are on your mind but also to the ones you haven't thought of yet…
So the question is: when's the right time to start thinking about this?
That's easy: Now. In the calm before the storm with a level head and the time to take it in, and at a pace that suits you. Have what you need to know explained step by step and one to one.
You can have all this with a little help from your friends here at Norla; with complete, structured information, calmly delivered by a professional midwife. We know from experience what it is you need to know; all you need to do is decide what you want to talk about and when. We take care of the rest.
Congratulations and good luck - we're looking forward to getting to know you.
All the best,
Norla Video Series Presenter
When you watch our pregnancy video series, Taryn is the one you'll see. We love listening to her gentle, calming voice as she explains what you need to know - and we think you will too :-)
Rachel, Lauren, Mel, Terri, Lorraine and Kelly
This is our lovely Customer Care team. Though they can't answer pregnancy questions, they're really friendly and happy to help with any other questions you have. Fascinating fact: It took quite some time to get this picture as everyone wanted to make sure they were having a good hair day!
Admin And Support
Kunle manages the admin side of Norla and keeps us all on track. He'd love to tell you what he does in his spare time, but as a dad of three, he doesn't have any!
Admin And Support
Lee works with Kunle on the business side of Norla. Lee loves things to be organised, but realises sometimes you can have too much of a good thing!
